(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 780 law events in January, up from the prior month’s 749. Detainable arrests were up from 26 to 40 for the month, and criminal charges increased from 37 to 54. Warrants served jumped from 10 to 21 December. Traffic stops rose from 64 to 93, with citations also climbing from 46 to 56. Traffic accidents fell from 46 to 36 in January. Also in January, drug charges climbed from one to nine and alarm calls dropped slightly from 29 to 26. DUI arrests increased from three to four and civil papers served rose significantly from 75 to 101. Domestic calls, however, were down slightly in January, falling from 16 to 11.
