(SALEM, IL) — A 48-year-old rural Sandoval man who was arrested earlier this week for alleged sex crimes against children has been released from the Marion County Jail after posting $50,000 cash bond. Special conditions of release for Darin Brandt prohibit him from having contact with his alleged victims or unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18. He is also prohibited from having contact with the Sandoval schools. Brandt has been formally charged with two Class X felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 and Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault of a person between the ages of 13 and 17 who was under his supervision. An investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was launched after a questionable text message was found on the phone of one of the alleged victims. The investigation is ongoing as deputies attempt to determine if there were other alleged victims. Brandt is next due in court at 11 a.m. February 15 for a preliminary hearing, and first appearance with a private attorney. In addition to being a member on the Sandoval School Board, Brandt owns a title company in Centralia.
