(BENTON, IL) — A Benton man was involved in a one-vehicle crash Monday evening in Franklin County. According to Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones,  44-year-old Garret E. Essary was driving south on Route 37, just north of Andrews Road, when he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the roadway and overturned. Essary received major injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and for driving under the influence of alcohol.
