(SESSER, IL) — Officials in Sesser are investigating a threat made toward Sesser-Valier School Tuesday night. According to Sesser-Valier Superintendent Jason Henry, Franklin County Dispatch got a call around 5:20 about a “terrorist” event against the school. School officials and law enforcement immediately evacuated the school until more information about the alleged threat could be obtained. Sesser Police, along with Illinois Secretary of State Police and the FBI, investigated and conducted a canine sweep of the building. Henry says at 7:30 p.m., an out-of-state resident – whose name is not being released at this time – was identified as a person of interest in the current investigation. Police believe that this person is, in fact, the same person who allegedly committed a similar offense against the school on Feb. 21 of last year. Both school and law enforcement officials don’t believe that the threat is credible. Henry says school will be in session today as scheduled. Police will be on school grounds today to protect the school community.
