(SALEM, IL) — Tyler Caswell, the 18-year-old from Salem accused of shooting and injuring two men at a party over the weekend, appeared in Marion County court Tuesday with his defense lawyer former Marion County State’s Attorney Matt Wilzbach. Caswell was advised of the four Class X felony charges against him and their possible sentences if he’s convicted. He’s charged with two counts each aggravated battery by discharging a firearm and attempted murder. Each Class X count is punishable by between 6 and 30 years each if convicted. Caswell was also advised that if he’s released on bond he is to have no contact with his alleged victims, 21-year-old Jacob Joyner and 20-year-old Jacob Hayes. Wilzbach filed a motion to reduce Caswell’s $750,000 bond and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for February 8.
