(MT. VERNON, IL) –The Mt. Vernon City Council met Tuesday evening.  Among items on the agenda, the council accepted a bid result of $72,200 for the long range CCTV pipe inspection system from Key Equipment and Supply Company.  A community garden update and presentation on proposed bike trails at JC Lake were given to the council and audience.  The city attorney gave a second reading of an ordinance declaring property surplus regarding scrap iron and pipes from the Armory renovation project, a rezoning ordinance for a property located at 11525 North Illinois Highway 142 from General Agriculture to General Industrial for Continental Tire for the purpose of a new employee parking lot, a resolution approving an agreement with Roundtable Design Inc. related to the demolition of structures upon the Park Plaza property, and a resolution amending an agreement with the Brennan Klein Field Foundation, all of which were approved.  Finally, Mount Vernon Police Chief Chris Deichman presented Sgt. Brian Huff with the 2016 Officer of the Year medallion.
