(CENTRALIA, IL) — High winds Tuesday created problems in the area. Centralia police responded to a scene Tuesday afternoon at Noleman and Lincoln where power lines came down on a semi-trailer. There were concerns the power pole holding the power lines could snap in the wind and would completely block the roadway. Fire crews and Ameren crews were also on scene. Around the same time, police and Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a scene on Highway 161 near Raccoon School, where high winds blew over a semi-truck. The semi landed across both lanes of the highway and had westbound 161 blocked while emergency crews worked to move the truck off the roadway. Illinois State Police also responded to a weather-related semi rollover on eastbound Interstate 64 in Jefferson County. Jefferson County Rural Fire and EMS responded to the scene to extract the 53-year-old driver of Kentucky from the vehicle. The right lane of eastbound I-64 was closed for approximately 4.5 hours for extrication, crash investigation, and scene cleanup.
