(SALEM, IL) — Bail has been set at $40,000 for a 32-year-old homeless Centralia man formally charged in Clinton County court with intimidation. Interim Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison says Victor Cook was arrested overnight Sunday for allegedly threatening two women through text messages and a phone call. Cook was formally charged Monday in Clinton County court with Class 3 felony intimidation through the threat of physical harm, and Class 4 felony harassment by threatening injury to a person or their property or their family or household members through electronic communication. Cook was advised of the charges against him and the possible penalties, as well as ordered to have no contact with the alleged victims or their residence. A first appearance for Cook was scheduled for Wednesday with his court-appointed attorney.
