(CENTRALIA, IL) — Centralia police are confirming a 30-year-old man died at an area motel Wednesday night, of what appears to have been the second drug overdose of the New Year. Fire and EMS responded to a call at the Midtown Motel on North Elm Street in Centralia, for a possible overdose. They were unable to revive the man and Centralia police detectives, along with Marion County Deputy Coroner Doug Krutsinger were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m. Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon says the body of the man, who is believed to be from the Carlyle area, was located in one of the motel rooms. The victim’s name and other information are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. According to Cannon, based upon evidence at the scene and information gathered during the initial investigation, the case is tentatively considered an apparent overdose of illicit drugs, similar to one earlier in the week. A 35-year-old man was found dead in a Centralia parking lot late Monday night of an apparent drug overdose.
