(MARION COUNTY, IL) — Clean-up continued and was completed Wednesday at the scene of a messy Christmas Day collision at milepost 107 of southbound Interstate 57.  At 10:56 p.m. Christmas Day, a motor home driven by 30 year old Jason Harmon of White Heath was travelling southbound in the right lane of traffic with a truck tractor driven by 60 year old Edward Kalisz of Oshawa Ontario travelling directly behind him.  The Kalisz vehicle rear ended a vehicle being towed by the Harmon vehicle, resulting in the Kalisz vehicle exiting the roadway to the right, rolling onto its side, and impacting the concrete bridge support.  The Harmon vehicle skidded sideways into the center median, rolling onto its side and impacted the center concrete bridge support.  EMS transported Harmon, his passengers, 29 year old Jessica Harmon, also of White Heath, as well as 2 year old and 4 year old juveniles, to Salem Township Hospital for injuries incurred in the collision.  ISP District 12 officials continue to investigate and charges are pending that investigation. According to District 12, Illinois Department of Transportation has been contacted regarding inspection of the integrity of the bridge structure due to both vehicles coming into contact with the bridge supports.  In the incident, the Harmon family’s cat escaped the vehicle and is missing.
