(MT. VERNON, IL) — Perkins Avenue in Mt. Vernon will be opening to traffic between 10th and 12th Streets, but will be re-opening on Friday rather than the initial target date of Thursday.  The City of Mt. Vernon Engineering Department ask area motorists to please drive slowly as the connection to 10th Street will be in the form of gravel for an undetermined amount of time.  Perkins will once again close when weather allows for construction to resume.  New signals in the area will be operational and motorists are asked to obey the traffic control in the area.
