(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met for the final regular meeting of 2016 on Monday. Among items on the agenda, the Council requested and was granted permission to seek bids for a long range CCTV inspection system.  The City Manager submitted for consideration for a preliminary and final plat for property located at 17619 East Angling Road, which was approved. The City Attorney provided second readings of ordinances annexing property at 11741 East Richview Road and for authorizing a tax levy, in addition to a first reading of an ordinance authorizing the city manager to prepare and execute a principal note and security agreement concerning a loan with MidCountry Bank to finance the IMRF Early Retirement Incentive Program, all of which were also approved. Finally, Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Deichman presented Officer Brian Buss with the Life Saving Award for his work in saving a toddler involved in a bathtub drowning incident.
