(VANDALIA, IL) — A 24-year-old St. Peter woman was sentenced Tuesday in Fayette County court to 3-years in prison for felony possession of meth precursors. Ashley Mitchell pleaded guilty to Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of methamphetamine precursors in exchange for a Class 4 felony charge of aggravated fleeing police being dismissed. According to reports, in April a Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop Mitchell on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia, after she was clocked driving 70 miles an hour in a 45 mile per hour speed zone.  After running several traffic devices, Mitchell eventually stopped and the meth precursor was then discovered. Mitchell is already serving a 2-year prison sentence out of Macon County on a Class 2 felony conviction for possession of meth manufacturing materials. She was admitted into Logan Correction Center in October. It’s unclear if the two sentences will be served consecutively or concurrently.
