JACKSON COUNTY — One of two people still facing charges in connection with the beating death and burning of a former Salem woman has pleaded not guilty.

Tiesha Anderson answered the charges in court yesterday. Prosecutors say Anderson and two others beat Robin Stief to death then burned her body in a trash can in a wooded area of Carbondale.

Lauren Stinde, of Murphysboro, already pleaded guilty to murdering Stief and the concealment of her death and awaits sentencing.

Robert Dennis remains in custody on the same charges is waiting to appear before a judge. All three could be facing life sentences.
