(VANDALIA, IL) — An 18-year-old Shobonier man has been found guilty in Fayette County adult court of shooting and injuring another child three years ago. Nathan T. Wiseman was found guilty of Class 1 felony aggravated discharge of a firearm and reckless conduct, but was found not guilty of Class X felony aggravated battery with a firearm. A Class 1 felony is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000, between 4 and 15 years in prison, or up to 4 years probation. Wiseman was 15-years-old when in February 2014 he fired a gun in the direction of an 11-year-old male, striking him in the chest. The shooting victim was rushed to the hospital where he remained for several days before being released. Although Wiseman was only 15 at that time, Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison says it was mandatory that Wiseman be charged as an adult. Wiseman’s bond was revoked following the verdict, and he was remanded into the custody of the Fayette County Sheriff. He is scheduled to be sentenced October 7, in Fayette County Court.
