(CARLYLE, IL) — Clinton County authorities are saying a Sunday morning home invasion in the Trenton area was not a random crime. According to sheriff’s reports, just before 6:15 Sunday morning, two men kicked in the door of a home in the 3500 block of Old U.S. 50, outside Trenton. Shots were fired in the home when an argument broke out, but contrary to earlier reports that said a man had been shot, the sheriff’s department says the men inside the home were not hit. Two females in the home were treated for minor injuries, with one female receiving stitches for a gunshot wound to her buttocks. The second female reportedly suffered a blow to the head by one of the intruders. Both women were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese for treatment and were released. Two males in the home were uninjured. The suspects in the home invasion are described as two black males, but upon police arrival they were already gone. A motive for the incident has not yet been determined, but it remains under investigation. Clinton County Crimestoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
