(MT. VERNON, IL) — On September 17th at 9:24 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of South 23rd for a trespassing call. Upon their arrival, officers were informed there was a person who had broken into the vacant residence and was still present. Officers located 24 year old Quavarus Jackson inside. After taking Jackson into custody, officers found property stolen during a burglary of Ford Square, which occurred on September 16th. Additionally, one of the officers recognized Jackson from video surveillance at Ford Square as being the burglar. Jackson was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Justice Center on charges of Burglary, Criminal Trespass to Property, and Criminal Damage to Property with bond to be set. Jackson is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
