METROPOLIS, Ill. (AP) — Authorities in southern Illinois say a person has been killed in a shooting involving a State Police trooper. Illinois State Police allege in a Saturday news release that a person possibly carrying a handgun in a neighbor’s yard. The deceased suspect has been identified as Donny Max Daugherty, 36, of Clifton, Tennessee. He was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for a probation violation pertaining to a charge of Possession of a Weapon and an Aggravated Assault warrant through the Nashville, Tennessee Police Department. Daugherty was known to have violent tendencies and had prior arrests for aggravated assault and weapons violations. No officers were injured. A weapon was recovered at the scene. The death is being investigated by several law enforcement agencies. Further details were not released.
