(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon Fire Department will start testing fire hydrants during this upcoming week. Hydrants north of Broadway from 1st Street to 27th Street and south of Veterans Memorial drive east and west of Route37 will be the areas tested.  Residents are cautioned that testing can cause discoloration in the water supply in the area being tested.
