(BENTON, IL) — Some arrests have been recently made by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for alleged methamphetamine production. Sheriff Don Jones says deputies began an investigation on April 26 into information developed regarding the illegal production of methamphetamine. Deputies were assisted in the investigation by the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, Benton Police, Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team and the U.S. Marshals. On that day, officer seized two separate labs at one home and meth making materials at another home.  Forty-six-year-old Jacqueline D. Lowery of Benton was taken into custody and charged with aggravated meth production with a child present and production of 400 to 900 grams of meth, both class X felonies. Her bond is $200,000. Jones says on May 14, 28-year-old Crystal R. Burgess of Benton was taken into custody and charged with possession of meth precursor less than 15 grams, a class X felony. Her bond has been set at $40,000. Then, on May 20, 29-year-old Shaun W.  Beasley and 43-year-old Jonathan A. Underwood, both of Benton, were taken into custody. Beasley was charged with aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, both class X felonies. His bond was set at $200,000.  Underwood was charged with unlawful procurement of methamphetamine precursor, a class 2 felony. His bond was set at $75,000. Jones says the investigation continues and more arrests are anticipated.
