(TEXICO, IL) — A fire Monday night destroyed a pole barn in Texico, causing up to $200,000 in damage. According to Kell Fire Chief Lonnie McDaneld, the Fire Protection District received the call just before 7 p.m. Monday of a fire to a pole barn at 19751 E. Baseline Road in Texico. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the roof of the building had already collapsed and the building was fully involved. The barn was owned by Irene Donoho, and the equipment inside belonged to both Irene and her son Kent Donoho. The equipment included a John Deere model 4650 tractor, Caterpillar model 45, large Kensman grain drill, large planter, two large grain heads, seed, tools and various other equipment. Salem Fire Protection District stood by at the Kell station in case of another call. The cause of the fire is unknown, but is not considered suspicious. Firefighters remained on the scene until 10:20 p.m.
