(CARBONDALE, IL) — SIU President Randy Dunn announced a list Wednesday afternoon of potential cuts due to the state’s budget impasse. In an email to employees, Dunn said more than 180 positions and 400 classes could be eliminated at the Carbondale campus. More than $3 million in cuts are expected at the SIU-C School of Law and could impact reaccreditation by the American Bar Association that is underway this spring. Nearly $9 million in cuts are anticipated at the School of Medicine, which will impact rural health, community health services, continuing professional development, and education & curriculum. The cuts are part of a $22.85 million reduction at SIUC under Governor Bruce Rauner’s proposed FY17 budget. In Dunn’s email, cuts to the entire SIU system total more than $46.5 million.
