(BELLEVILLE, IL) — A former Metro East judge convicted of drug and weapons charges is out of prison. Michael Cook has been assigned to a St. Louis halfway house as he nears the end of his two-year sentence. He was the former circuit judge in St. Clair County drug court in Illinois. Cook was convicted after a fellow judge died in 2013 of a cocaine overdose at a hunting cabin owned by his family.
