(SALEM, IL) — Reports indicate an accident at North American Lighting in Salem Monday resulted in serious injuries to an outside contractor and has shut down approximately 90 percent of the production line. According to reports, an outside contractor working on a transformer at the facility was electrocuted when he opened a control panel. No further information is available about his condition or the circumstances surrounding the incident. Workers who were dismissed early Monday because of the incident are expected to report back to work at 4 a.m. Tuesday. We’ll bring you more information as it becomes available.
