(MT. VERNON, IL) — Mt. Vernon Police say a man allegedly robbed King City Liquors, located at 307 S. 12th St. around 9:10 Sunday night. Police say the suspect, Sherman Dupree, approached an employee at the drive-up window to make a transaction. Dupree then stole a small amount of cash from the employee’s hand and fled on foot. Following their investigation, officers were able to speak with Dupree at 511 S. 15th St. He was taken into custody on charges of robbery and obstructing identification. Evidence taken from the robbery was also seized from inside the home. Dupree is lodged in the Jefferson County Justice Center with bond to be set.
