(Marion, IL) — A first year Marion City Councilman is dropping a racial discrimination complaint against the city’s police department. Angelo Hightower, who’s also a cop, says he filed the suit after he wasn’t promoted to lieutenant even after fitting the qualifications. He canceled the suit for personal reasons. Hightower’s complaint is different from the legal chaos he’s facing about whether he can serve as a police officer and a city councilman. The first hearing on that issue will be June 2nd at the Williamson County Courthouse.
