(Yorkville, IL) — An Illinois man is in custody after an abduction in Cape Girardeau last week that got several Illinois police departments involved. Forty-three-year-old Jeffery Lazier of Coal City was arrested in Yorkville, near Chicago, Friday afternoon on a slew of charges, including sexual abuse, kidnapping and robbery. A woman was reportedly kidnapped Tuesday by a man believed to be Lazier and was eventually able to escape from the suspect’s vehicle in Effingham on Interstate 57. Lazier is in custody on 250-thousand-dollars bond.
