EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) — A British heroin dealer has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison on charges stemming from the death of a suburban St. Louis teen. A jury in February found 41 -year-old Richard Klemis guilty of nine federal drug charges. He was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis. Prosecutors say Klemis is a British citizen who was living with his mother in O’Fallon, Illinois, in 2010 and 2011. They say he sold heroin to dozens of current and former O’Fallon Township High School students, including 19-year-old Tyler McKinney, who died of an overdose in February 2011. Prosecutors say Klemis even hired a 16-year-old to help him distribute heroin. Klemis fled to Great Britain but was captured and eventually returned to the U.S.
