(McLeansboro, IL) — A White County woman will be sentenced May 21 after a Hamilton County jury Tuesday took about an hour to find her guilty of drug charges. The Hamilton County State’s Attorney’s office says Rachel Newman of Enfield was found guilty of unlawful possession of methamphetamine following a two-day trial. Newman was charged following a traffic stop that lead to her arrest on June 19, 2013. The McLeansboro Police Department, Southern Illinois Drug Task Force and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department handled the case. Co-defendant Erica Rose previously pled guilty to her charge of unlawful use of a vehicle in relation to methamphetamine manufacturing back in January of this year.
