(JOHNSTON CITY, IL) — A 58-year-old man wanted for a domestic violence was involved in a standoff with police for several hours Thursday night at a home on Third Street in Johnston City. According to WSIL-TV, police went to the house around 4:30 to serve an arrest warrant on him. Police heard the man cock a gun and threatened to kill officers when they came in. He made the threat against the officers a few times. The man was accused of beating a woman and putting a pillow over her head the night before. She left overnight to seek medical treatment and wasn’t there during the standoff. The Williamson County SWAT Team was brought in and used a robot to try to find the man in the house. Police say the man tried to put the robot in a closet. Then around 9 p.m., the man ran out of the back of the home and was not armed. Police say the man will now face charges related to the standoff along with the original charge of domestic battery.
