A juvenile was taken to the White County Sheriff’s Office in Carmi Thursday morning after officials got a call about a threat on social media between two juvenile subjects.

The initial report indicated no threat or danger to the school system. The Carmi Police Department responded to assist.

Due to the fact that both juveniles involved attended school in the Carmi-White County School District, the school was advised of the situation and officers went there to find the suspect. The juvenile was located at the school just after 7:30 a.m. and taken to the sheriff’s office.

At no time was there an active threat towards the school system and no indication that anyone at the school was in danger.  The threat involved a photo of a subject with a gun and text message that said “I know where you live.”  The threat made no mention about the school system or any indication of an issue there.  The threat was sent at 9 p.m. Wednesday night and reported to the sheriff’s office at 6:30 Thursdaymorning.

The juvenile was interviewed at the Sheriff’s Office with his parents present. The White County State’s Attorney’s office was advised of the situation. The juvenile was released to his parents pending further action.
