Jefferson County and Mt. Vernon Bicentennial (1819-2019) Photo Contest Theme: “Celebrating the History and Beauty of our Community” 1. Who is eligible to enter the contest: Professionals and Amateurs of all ages. Participants do not have to be from Jefferson County. Members of the JCHS Bicentennial Committee are not eligible to enter. There is no fee to enter. 2. How to enter the contest: Entry forms and rules are available at the JCHS Office (1411 N. 27th), and on the JCHS Website (historicjeffersoncountyil.com). Entry forms and a framed or matted photo (ready to hang) must be turned in to the JCHS office by 4 pm on April 8th, 2019. In addition, a JPEG image of the photo must be emailed to, email@example.com, by 4 pm on April 8th, 2019. The JCHS office is open weekdays from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. 3. Contest Period: The contest begins on September 1, 2018 and ends April 8th, 2019. All photos must be taken and submitted during this time. 4. Judges: Judges will be selected from; professional photographers, artists and instructors. 5. Judging: Photos will be judged on overall impact/impression, creativity, expression of the theme, clarity and quality of the submission 6. Prizes: The winner of each category will receive a $50 prize. A grand prize winner will be chosen from the category winners. The grand prize winner will receive a $100.00 prize. 7. Additional Rules: 1. The same photo may not be entered in more than one category. 2. Framed photos will be available for pick-up between October 14th -October 31s t. Any photos not picked up by October 31st become the property of the JCHS and treatment will be at their discretion. 3. JPEG images emailed to the JCHS will remain the property of the JCHS and may be used for promotional and exhibit purposes. 4. Photos may not be computer enhanced. 5. All photos must be 5” by 7” or 8” by 10”. 6. Photos must be submitted framed or matted and ready to hang. 7. Photo mats may be no larger than 16” by 20”. 8. Photos must be taken in Jefferson County, IL. 9. The JCHS reserves the right to reject photos that are perceived as inappropriate. 8. Categories: 1. Scenic (Agriculture, Architecture, Wildlife, landscapes, etc.) 2. Art (sculpture, murals etc.) 3. Monuments and Cemeteries 4. Patriotic (Veterans, flags, Americana, etc.) 5. Buildings and Establishments (government buildings, Cedarhurst, churches, homes businesses, etc.) 6. JCHS Historical Village (grounds, buildings, events) 7. Junior Photographer (Participants in this category must be 12 and under) An exhibit and photo viewing party will be held on Thursday May 2nd, in the Schweinfurth Museum at the Historical Village. Winning photos will be revealed by placing ribbons on them.
