Durbin Still Want Change to Fed Disaster Aid

Durbin Still Want Change to Fed Disaster Aid

WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD) — A year ago a tornado tore through Taylorville and as the community rebuilds Senator Dick Durbin is still pressing for a change in the formula that sends less federal disaster aid to rural communities in states with big cities like Chicago. Durbin says when small towns are hit they can’t qualify for the need they deserve. The Democrat says after seeing one natural disaster after another he’s convinced a change is needed but it’s going to be hard to achieve.

Durbin says he’s not backing away from pressing for a change but that it’s going to be a big battle in order to alter the status quo.
