MT. VERNON, IL — Flu season is in full effect and now is the time to make sure your family is protected, as well as yourself. The flu vaccination comes in either a shot form or a nasal spray. Medical experts typically do not have a preference, as both help protect against the different strands of the virus that circulate during the season.

Mike Bierman is an Infection Control Nurse with Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon and he says just because someone is vomiting or has diarrhea, doesn’t necessarily mean they actually have the flu.

Bierman says this time of year the combination of multiple symptoms and illnesses, along with the flu, can leave the worst results.
