CLINTON COUNTY — Charges including felony official misconduct were dismissed Thursday against a member of the Clinton County board.

Keith Nordike, of Aviston, was arrested in April and charged with Class 3 felony official misconduct, and misdemeanor unlawful use of an electronic tracking device, after he allegedly placed a tracking device on a highway department employee’s county vehicle.

Multiple judges had recused themselves from the case due to conflict. But on Thursday, Judge Michael McHaney granted a defense motion to dismiss the case, despite the prosecution’s opposition. McHaney did grant the state a leave to file amended information in the case within 21 days.

Prosecutors allege the 52-year-old  Nordike placed a tracking device on the county vehicle assigned to county highway department employee Ron Becker.

Nordike remains on the county board. He represents District 4, which includes Aviston and Trenton.

His attorneys had argued Nordike was being fiscally responsible as a member of the county board in his monitoring of Becker’s travel.
