MARION, IL — Veterans Airport and area officials have the opportunity to recommend which of five air service proposals submitted to the U.S. Department of Transportation will best meet the air transportation needs of the region.

Five airlines have submitted proposals for service that would begin in December. The proposals include a continuation of existing service by Cape Air, or a Cape Air dual hub option of service to St. Louis and Nashville. Also included is a Sky West proposal for 50 seat regional jet service to Chicago O’Hare. Air Choice One, Boutique Air, and Southern Airways have each submitted proposals as well. Only one carrier will be selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The proposals are available for review on the airport’s website, www.veteransairport.com, along with a survey allowing the public to vote for their preferred service option until Monday, July 22nd. The public is also encouraged to contact the airport or their local officials to convey preference.
