CENTRALIA — A June 10 jury trial date has been confirmed for a 33-year-old Centralia man charged with a January shooting in the 700 block of Razback Street in Centralia that resulted in a 28-year-old St. Louis man being hospitalized with gunshot injuries.

The defense attorney for Bart Brown confirmed Wednesday in Marion County court that their case is prepared for trial.

Brown is charged with Class X felony aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm, Class 1 felony aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle or structure, Class 3 felony possession of a firearm, and Class 2 felony possession of a firearm with a prior conviction.

He’s accused of shooting Justin McMath in the shoulder with a shotgun on New Year’s Day. McMath was initially transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being transferred to a St. Louis area hospital.

The shooting reportedly occurred in Brown’s backyard. Police initially searched for Brown who they had called armed and dangerous.  He turned himself in to the Marion County Jail the next night.
