$15 minimum wage moves forward

ILLINOIS (RFD) — One hurdle is cleared to bring the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour. The Senate approved the measure today that will phase the increase in over the next six years. The Senate also passed a tax credit for small businesses so they can cope with the coming increases in labor costs.

No Republicans voted for the bill, Mahomet’s Chapin Rose has questions on how merchants, colleges and other employers will handle the increase in the cost of doing business.

The bill now moves to the House were changes could be possible. The bill’s sponsors are however urging no changes the existing legislation.
