MARION COUNTY — A 28-year-old rural Sandoval woman remains in the Marion County Jail after she was arrested over the weekend for alleged child abduction.

According to Salem police, Siara Stokes does not have custody of her 10-year-old son but left with him following a supervised visitation Saturday night at the Salem home of a relative where he was living.

After being notified of the alleged incident, Salem police were able to ping Stokes’ cell phone and pinpoint her location at a home in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly located Stokes and transported her to the county line where she was handed over to Salem Police for questioning.

The 10-year-old boy was turned over to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for further action.

Stokes was ultimately taken to the Marion County Jail where she awaits the formal filing of charges in court and the setting of bail.
