FLORA — The life of 5-year-old Maura Smith was nearly cut short in February of 2017, when it was discovered that the little girl had to remove an Arteriovenous Malformation, or AVM, from her brain. Thanks to the care of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, the little girl is happy and healthy today. The family is paying it forward by hosting “Maura’s Mission: A Miracle in the Making” coming up this Saturday.

Dustin Smith with Johnny and June’s in Flora is Maura’s dad. He says his Nashville contacts reached out to him after their ordeal last year, and this event has come out of it.

The event will also include a meal available for purchase, along with an auction of autographed guitars and other memorabilia. All money raised will be given to the pediatric intensive care and neurology units at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Doors open on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Johnny & June’s at 720 W. North Avenue in Flora. For more information, you can visit their event on Facebook.
